What is Wound Care:
A non-healing wound can cause much pain for a patient, further medical complications, and have a major impact on the quality of one’s life. Major advances in treatments have developed to successfully heal and close chronic and non-healing wounds. Physical therapy can be an adjunct treatment for non-healing wounds when standard wound care is unsuccessful.
Optimal Therapy offers therapists that are certified in wound care and will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team that may include your MD, nurse, prosthetic/orthotic specialist, and/or surgeon. Physical therapists with a specialization in wound care will perform a comprehensive physical therapy evaluation and develop a treatment plan that will apply to the various factors in the management of wound healing, including nutrition, blood flow and circulation, swelling, functional mobility, and pressure relief.
